IS YOUR BUSINESS SAFETY AND COMPLIANT?
Need fire extinguisher services in Leeds? Annual fire extinguisher service inspections are a legal requirement within your business premises under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order 2005) and could be also be required for your insurance
During a basic annual service, OJ Safety engineer carries out various checks on the fire extinguisher depending on its make and type.
Generally, the service includes:
•Check all fire extinguisher parts such as: valves, safety devices, gauges, and operating mechanisms.
•Check internally and externally for corrosion
•Check the weight is within the stated range
•Compiling a maintenance report or `Certificate of Inspection` –
A record of the maintenance carried out on the fire extinguishers to be kept by the client and engineer.
OJ Safety Extended Service:
Extended services involve carrying out a test discharge on the fire extinguisher, checking internal and external parts, then recharging the fire extinguisher for ready for use, if deemed safe by the engineer.
BS 5306 – 3, states that water, foam, powder and wet chemical fire extinguishers are required to have extended services on a 5 year basis.
Co2 fire extinguishers require a pressure test / overhaul test every 10 years. We carry out a `service exchange` for co2 fire extinguishers due this test. That is, we swap your old co2 fire extinguisher for a new or refurbished, tested co2 fire extinguisher.
This is far more cost a effective as it saves time and money for your business.
Each fire extinguisher should be accompanied by appropriate safety signage indicating the type of fire extinguisher. OJ Safety can provide this signage when we undertake the fire extinguisher maintenance.
All fire extinguishers should, where possible, be wall mounted on a factory standard bracket or placed on a fire extinguisher stand.
Fire extinguishers should never be used to prop doors open – Especially fire doors which should remain shut to prevent the spread of fire.
We can provide all the brackets and wall mount fire extinguishers during our visit.
