What is a Fire Compartmentation Survey?
The aim of a fire compartmentation survey is to prevent the spread of smoke and fire. This is done by dividing the building in order to protect fire escape routes, high risk or high value area’s of a building to prevent huge losses financially and more importantly ensure people can escape easily.
The Fire Risk Assessment you currently have in place should include a review of the existing fire compartmentation measures. One thing to bare in mind though is that a fire risk assessment won’t necessarily cover every area of fire compartmentation.
