The CSCS test (Construction Skills Certification Scheme test), officially called the Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test, is a standardized exam in the UK construction industry. It’s designed to assess a worker’s knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices relevant to their job role on a construction site. These days it’s incredibly common to need a CSCS card and therefore many people go through this test every couple years to stay up to date and compliant! There are different types of tests designed depending on what role you take in the industry from operatives to managers, there is a test for all.
What Happens After the Test?
If you pass:

You can apply for a CSCS card appropriate to your occupation and qualifications.

The card is then used as proof of your competence on-site.
If you don’t pass:

You can retake the test after a brief waiting period.

You’ll receive a breakdown of the areas where you performed poorly, helping you focus your revision and don’t put too much pressure on yourself, you can always try again!
